Meet Coach Avery

Avery Welkin is an experienced educator, nonprofit development professional, and ICF Associate Certified Coach. For the last ten years after receiving his Masters in the Art of Teaching, he has worked both in and outside the classroom for public schools and nonprofits. In recent years, his focus has turned to coaching as a model for guiding students and fellow professionals towards action plans for their future while staying grounded in current challenges and opportunities. Avery draws on his past life background as an ISA-Certified Arborist, Americorps VISTA volunteer, and College Coach to bring breadth of experience to clients’ diverse interests. Most recently, Avery completed the Fostering Success Coaching Institute’s Level III Coach training in 2025 to focus on equitable educational experiences for first generation college students.

Coaching Approach

From classrooms to organizational settings, Avery tailors sessions to fit goal timelines, career milestones, and life goals, empowering clients to experiment, reflect, and grow. My approach is based on years of work on centering diversity, equity, and belonging for students who have been marginalized in institutionalized settings. Cultural humility, active listening, and a holistic sense of a client’s needs as a human being drive my approach.
